Brian Bennett - Project Manager: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Brian is a long time Euro and war gamer who co-developed Strike of the Eagle, our flagship game in the new “Fog of War” game block series. Brian is in charge of several new games in development. Brian’s name is pronounced BRIAN, as in 'brian' (Old English for Brian). Based in Detroit, Brian is a service engineer for a laboratory instrument company by day and a champion cherry pit spitter in his free time. He holds the world record for spitting a Yaezakura cherry pit over 95 feet 6.5 inches at the 2008 world championship held in Pikeville, KY (really, this is no joke, check Wikipedia!). He has a Bachelors degree in chemistry and served in the US Navy for 8 years as a nuclear operator on the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier. (Note. The accusations that Brian's world championship standing is illegal due to his radiation exposure and resulting 12 inch tongue is unfounded. His physical handicap has earned him best male performer in an adult film at the AVN - Adult Movie Awards three years running. See - 'Tongues of Endearment - 2003', 'Dances with Tongues - 2004' and 'Tonguedog Millionaire - 2009'.

Gunter Eickert - Game and firefight development

Gunter has degree in Biomedical Engineering and is now a Mechanical Engineering graduate student at The Ohio State University, specializing in artificial body enhancements (hmmmm...). He is an avid fencer, plays soccer and loves designing games. He is responsible for many of the Conflict of Heroes published firefights and is currently designing Hessen, a game that explores the inter-relationships between the 14th century church, merchant class and nobility.

He thanks his dad once a week for not naming him Uwe Jr.

Uwe Eickert - Principal: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Uwe built up and sold several successful businesses before he figured out that game designing and publishing is the path to riches and fame. Since then he has appeared on the Oprah show, been offered the position of Secretary of State, acted in a major motion picture with Brad Pitt, and is in a think tank with Ernest T. Bass, among other notables. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA specializing in corporate finance and strategy. His hobbies include soccer, playing the violin, martial arts, painting, sailing and is an amature plum pit spitter, under the tutelage of Master Spitter Brian Bennett (Note, plum pits have more mass than cherry pits and are thus classified in a different competitive category.)

Uwe is pronounced as "oova", the Germanic God of wine and frolic. Uwe lives up to his name 50% of the time and sleeps off his indulgences the rest of the time.

How Uwe is not pronounced!
Ewe - as in a female sheep.
Ohhhweee - as in the sound a midwest farmer makes at night with a Ewe.
Ohhhhh, Ohhhhh, Ohhhhh, vaaaa..... - Well, we will not go there.
Uwe won the James F Dunningan Design Elegance Award for his Conflict of Heroes series. His game designs won the Origin's Best Historical Boardgames Awards in 2009 and 2010.

Bevan Ferreira - Game and statistical modeling development

Bevan is an associate professor of Applied Probability Modeling at Selkirk College, British Columbia. Bevan began nordic ski racing to help him remain focused enough to finish two degrees in Mathematics, all so he could gain an unfair advantage in wargaming.
Applied mathematics has given Bevan a unique insight into the way games of chance actually work and this has proven invaluable in the game design process. Needless to say, we all refuse to play poker with Bevan.

Dave Kimmel - Game and tactics development: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Dave is a Professor of English at Heidelberg College. His interests include writing, literature (particularly historical fiction), teaching, history, computers, cooking, gardening, and travel. He is currently working on a game about Midwestern farmers and sheep.

Pavlos Germidis - Counter designs: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Pavlos originates from France but currently lives in Athens, where he works as a freelance 3D/illustration artist. Given the fact that his attention span barely beats that of a 2-year old on a sugar high, his focus oscillates between videogame design, reading science stuff and boardgames at an alarming speed. When he grows old(er), he wants to live on a dream farm like Uwe's, surrounded by hyenas and wolves. (Uwe - What the hell is he talking about!?)

Michał Ozon - Game development

Michał is a novice lawyer, an experienced cat owner and a veteran RPG GM. Michael is the published author of Surigao – The Last Battle of Giants, which covers the WWII fleet battle of Surigao Strait. A military history fan, especially that of the WWII Pacific theatre, Michael first began to play wargames at the age of ten. His wargame endeavors were later subverted by women, wine, cats* and RPG's. Michael works to promote historic games and wargames in Poland**, under the banner of Los Diablos Polacos. He joined the Academy-Games team by leading the design group for Price of Honour.

(*) The deadliest enemy of wargames are cats. Women are in far second place.
(**) Little known fact: Poland is part of Europe (really this is not a joke).

James Palmer - Rules questions: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

James has a Masters Degree in Computer and Information Science, and is currently working as a Software Quality Assurance Specialist in Waterloo, Ontario. His interests include boardgames of all kinds, building model ships, hiking, and ballroom dancing. Although he lives in Canada, he neither lives in an igloo nor watches hockey, but can drink maple syrup straight from the bottle just like any real Canadian.

Pete Panzeri - Game development

Pete was awarded the Army's Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantryman's Badge for his service in Iraq, and his 30-year military career included service as a Drill Sergeant, Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, commander of an Infantry Battalion, and commander of a covert team developing asepsis warfare strains for the brand new class of 'septic' tanks. He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College, earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Old Dominion University, in Virginia, and a Masters of History from The Ohio State University. His Military teaching assignments include Chief of Military History at the US Army Infantry School, Tactics Chief at the Military Intelligence School, and a three-years teaching for the US Military Academy, West Point.

With this background, Pete is the perfect person to head the design team for First Men In: D-Day Airborne Battles.
Pete handles our customer complaints department, where he offers free helicopter rides.

Stephen Paschal - Original CoH game cover artwork

Steve is a professional artist with his studio located in Hawaii. He balances painting beautiful Hawaiian women and landscapes with stunning historical war scenes. He dresses really cool and knows what is important in life. We all aspire to be like Steve. www.stephenpaschal.com

Nicholas Warcholak - Editing and game development

Nick is an institutional researcher for Penn State University where he is also a doctoral candidate in educational psychology. He was instumental in keeping the game rules streamlined. He formulated what I call the Warcholak guide:
1. Is the rule necessary to simulate the TYPICAL (over 10% of the time) conditions and outcomes on the battlefield? If YES, keep. If NO, go to 2.
2. Does the rule require significant mental resources to remember to play? (Significant is defined as needing to remember more than 2 facts.) If YES, dump. If NO, go to 3.
3. Does the rule add to the fun of the game? Does it produce outcomes that add significant replayability, oh-no moments, gotcha momments, or simulation pay-off outside the general flow of the game? If YES, keep. If NO, dump.
We feel that these rules also work well for girlfriends and wives. Note: You will always lose though.

Jose Luis Vilar Benet - ZunTzu and online games development: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Jose "Billy Bob" Luis grew up, studied and lives in Germany, working for a distribution and logistics "mailorder" company. His family originates from Spain, so his tri-lingualism in Spanish, German and English helps a lot picking up chicks in Spain, Germany and England. Billy "Jose Luis" Bob is a history/wargames enthusiast and balances board gaming with his other hobbies: photography, graphic design and computers. These passions led to a natural progression into online gaming design platforms such as ZunTzu. Jose "Billy Luis" Bob programmed all of the cool and free online ZunTzu games for you to enjoy.
